A Peek Inside Mimi's Needlepoint

If you’ve never been to Mimi’s—or just want a closer look around—we’re giving you a little tour! There are so many details that make the shop feel like home, but we narrowed it down to just a few of our very favorite things. Consider this your inside look at Mimi’s Needlepoint.

1. The Wallpaper

Now this was a labor of love! We ordered wallpaper from Love vs. Design in our brand colors and installed it ourselves. All it took was a 12-foot scaffolding and 10 hours of installation time, but we think it was worth it. Just don't look too closely at one ceiling corner in the shop (but that's how you know it was done ourselves!).

2. The Seating Area

Our biggest goal with Mimi's is to make it feel like a welcoming environment that anyone can come in, stitch, and find a new friend. That's exactly why we chose café-style seating. We felt that it would be a little less intimidating to find a seat at bistro tables and would encourage stitchers to sit and stitch awhile. An added bonus: it makes a great seating area for non-needlepointers to hang out in while their needlepoint friends shop (especially when we have the TV set up nearby - we usually have sports on!).

Because we all need a Diet Coke while shopping, am I right?

4. Clear Product Signage

Each thread line has a sign displayed above that tells you all the info you need to know, including:

Yardage
Construction
Price
Best for: 18 mesh, 13 mesh, or both

We strongly feel that transparent pricing and clear information helps stitchers make the best choices!

5. Threads Displayed by Shade

All of our threads, from Essentials to Very Velvet, are displayed by shade instead of in numerical order. We find it easier to kit canvases when you can see all the light pink options in a row, instead of hunting around throughout the entire thread line.

If you are shopping with a stitch guide and need help finding a specific color, our shopgirls would be more than happy to look it up in the system to confirm the color and find it for you!

6. Our Kitting Tables

There's nothing worse than trying to hold your canvas, project bag, Diet Coke, and pick threads all at the same time. We have two rolling tables available for customers to use to lay out your canvas and pull threads to your heart's content!

7. Open and Airy Space

Our biggest requirement when hunting for the perfect space was to ensure it was open, bright, and airy. With tons of natural light coming through our front windows, and plenty of space to peruse, we hope you'll enjoy shopping and stitching at Mimi's!
