Lily of the Valley

This needlepoint canvas is intentionally printed GRAY, to make stitching with BLACK threads a breeze! Design is 8x8" on 13 mesh, total canvas width and height is 12x12".

Here is the Lily of the Valley, Convallaria majalis. Charming, sweetly scented and highly poisonous, lily-of-the-valley is a romantic woodland stunner. Lily of the Valley has strong biblical connections and is said to have first bloomed where Eve’s tears fell as she left the Garden of Eden. It has also been associated with various folklores, including tales of fairies and nightingales. Its flowers are thought to bring luck in love and so are very popular in wedding bouquets.

As a gardener and an artist, I have been dying to bring some dark florals to needlepoint. These designs bring to mind a dark academia aesthetic, and show a rich and lush color palette for a brooding but elegant look. These flowers aren't meant to be consumed, but they are a joy to admire, both in the garden and in art.
